Sensory VR

Anxiety in UK primary school children

Immersive VR to support mental health and mindfulness

Research shows that a significant proportion of primary school children experience anxiety around school life—lessons, homework, friendships, and social pressures. We created Sensory VR: a virtual reality application designed with transferable skills to improve mental health, concentration, coordination, and motor skills through immersive, interactive gameplay.

  • Developed with additional-needs and neurodiverse provisions
  • Validated with Liverpool John Moores University
  • Supported by Innovacy Agency, Health Matters, and Growth Platform

Real-world validation completed with Liverpool John Moores University, supported by the Innovacy Agency, Health Matters, and The Growth Platform.

The classroom teacher planned to continue using the Sensory VR headsets the following academic year, noting what a positive addition it was to her classroom.

Wellbeing VR

Stress reduction and emotional regulation

Peaceful environments for breathing and focus

Developed with our sister company Visual Therapies CIC, Wellbeing VR is designed to reduce stress and anxiety and improve the ability to focus. The application uses 360-degree film footage, calming music, and tailor-made voice-overs to transport users to peaceful, calming environments—supporting breathing regulation and heart-rate reduction so they can continue their day in a healthier, more positive way.

  • 360° immersive environments
  • Calming music and voice-overs
  • Breathing and heart-rate regulation
  • Adopted by NHS Maternal Mental Health

Now adopted by the NHS Maternal Mental Health team at Arrowe Park Hospital for patients and staff.

Train the trainer model with Visual Therapies CIC

Supporting the third sector, workers, and users

Our intervention has been used to support students during exam revision, provide respite for caregivers, and improve mental health for employees—leading to reduced time off due to stress. It has also played a role in supporting people experiencing PTSD. We work closely with Visual Therapies CIC to deliver a train-the-trainer model that supports the third sector, their workers, and their users.
